Service Changes from 5th November (Including Service 14 Replacement)October 22, 2018 11:27 am
Withdrawal of Swansea to Parc Gwernfadog & Craig Cefn Parc Section of Service 14 by First Cymru
Following the withdrawal of the Swansea to Craig Cefn Parc section of service 14 by First Cymru, South Wales Transport will be providing some replacement bus provision to the affected areas.
Llanllienwen Close near Cwmrhydyceirw and the upper section of Parc Gwernfadog, as directed by Swansea Council, will be served by changes to our current service 24. Please see below for service 24 information.
The Graig Felen, Clydach and Craig Cefn Parc sections of service 14 will be replaced by expanded service 214. Please see below for service 214 information.
In both cases, First Cymru tickets will be accepted to ensure a seamless transition for customers. Single and return fares will be charged at the same rate as the current First Cymru prices; please see our Fares page for information about Day and Weekly tickets.
First Cymru will be accepting Day and Weekly tickets bought on service 214 and 24 for onward travel towards Swansea on services 4 and X6 (the renumbered X50/X51). Tickets bought on service 214 will also be accepted on First Cymru services across the wider Swansea Bay ticket area.
Service 214 (Craig Cefn Parc to Graig Felen/Cwmtawe School)
This service, which was previously one journey to and from Cwmtawe School on school days, will now be a full daytime service Monday to Saturday as a partial replacement for the withdrawal of First Cymru service 14. The original journey to and from Cwmtawe School will remain unchanged.
The service will operate from Craig Cefn Parc to Clydach Mond and Graig Felen, with Morriston and Swansea bound customers connecting at Clydach Mond with the new increased 20-minute frequency First Cymru service X6 (previously known as X50/X51). Service 214 itself will not continue further than Graig Felen.
This timetable also shows some early morning and evening journeys which will be operated by First Cymru.
Service 24 (Swansea City Centre to Morriston Hospital/Parc Gwernfadog)
As directed by Swansea Council, there will be changes to service 24 in order to maintain bus provision to the upper section of Parc Gwernfadog.
Instead of serving Morriston Hospital, the service will operate via Llanllienwen Close and then a circular route along Heol Maes Eglwys, Heol-y-Fran, Rhodfa’r Dryw, Rhodfa’r Wennol, Rhodfa’r Eos and Rhodfa Fadog to the central roundabout outside Dicksy’s Fish Bar. It will then return to the Morriston Comprehensive roundabout via Rhodfa Fadog.
This will mean that the Ynysforgan end of Parc Gwernfadog, i.e. Christopher Road, Butterslade Grove, Heol Dolfain and Dee Place will not be served by the amended service.
Service 43 (Swansea City Centre to Morriston Hospital)
This service will now depart from Bay X in Swansea City Bus Station except for the 1710 departure, which will depart from Bay W.
Service 54 (Swansea City Centre to Parc Llewellyn)
This service will now depart from Bay J in Swansea City Bus Station.
