Gower College – Frequently Asked Questions

How early do I need to be at the bus stop?

You should be at the bus stop 10 minutes before your bus is due to arrive

How will I know if my bus is approaching?

Look for the sign displayed at the front of the bus showing its route letter. If it matches the route you’ve been allocated, it’s your bus!

How do I get the bus to stop?

When the bus is approaching, be sure to hold your hand out to signal to the driver you want them to stop; this is particularly important when you are not at a main bus stop or no other bus users are at the stop.

Do I need to show my bus pass to the driver?

Yes, you must show your bus pass to the driver every day, so please have it ready before boarding the bus.

What happens if I don't have my bus pass?

If you do not have your pass you will be refused travel and will not be able to get on the bus.

I've lost my bus pass what do I do?

Visit or call Student Services immediately on 01792 890774 and inform them; you will need to pay a fee for a replacement bus pass. You will need to obtain a temporary cover letter from them if you need to travel in the meantime and show this to the driver when boarding in place of the bus pass.

I've left something on the bus. What do I do?

Visit or call Student Services on 01792 890774 and inform them what you have lost and what route you travel on. Informing them approximately where on the bus you were sitting is helpful (e.g. which side, near the front/back/middle). Giving as much information as possible will increase the likelihood of the item being found.

My bus has not turned up/has passed early. What do I do?

Firstly, stay at the bus stop! Give Student Services a call on 01792 890774 and inform them of the problem, including where you are waiting and what bus route you are waiting for. We will then arrange to get you picked up. Remember, don’t leave the bus stop as we will get you into college!

Can I use my bus pass during the day on other buses?

Yes! South Wales Transport and First Cymru buses will accept your college bus pass for travel on college days only up to 6pm (boarding time) on regular public services.

Where can I find timetables for the First Cymru service bus routes during the day?

Visit the Timetables section of their website at www.firstgroup.com/south-west-wales/plan-journey/timetables/.

I finish early on a wednesday like many others. Are there extra buses to get me home?

Yes! We recommend using our dedicated shuttle buses from the Gorseinon Campus’ Coach Park (on Wednesday afternoons only) direct to Swansea and Llanelli bus stations, with departures at both 1pm and 2pm. Where possible, please use these shuttle buses instead of local service buses on Wednesday afternoons to avoid overloading.

What time does the bus get me into college and what time does it leave in the afternoon?

All dedicated college buses arrive at Gorseinon Campus’ Coach Park by 9:25 A.M. They depart the college in the afternoons to return home at 4:30 P.M.
