16-21 Young Persons Ticket Changes from 1st September 2025
August 18, 2025 5:20 pmFrom 1st September 2025, Welsh Government are introducing an extension to the MyTravelPass scheme for 16-21 year olds.
This will now allow holders of a MyTravelPass to purchase a £1.00 single journey fare or a £3.00 unlimited day ticket on any participating operator’s local public bus services in Wales (we are not aware of any operators not participating). You must show your MyTravelPass to the driver to qualify.
The £3.00 day ticket can be used across different bus operators, so it could be purchased with us for example and then used later on the same day on another operator’s service (or vice versa).
The one-third discount continues to apply to other tickets with MyTravelPass as previously.
You can apply for a MyTravelPass free of charge from Welsh Government from the website at mytravelpass.tfw.wales.
NPTC & Gower College Swansea (Tycoch Campus) College Students
From 1st September, students attending Neath or Tycoch college campuses will need a MyTravelPass to purchase the £1.00 single journey ticket on our bus services. As this scheme has now been extended to all 16-21 year olds holding a MyTravelPass, you will no longer be required to show your college ID, only your MyTravelPass.
Due to lack of uptake and changes to the scheme, the College Term ticket will no longer be offered. Students will need to utilise the £1.00 single journey ticket instead, as the vast majority had already been doing. A separate agreement has been made with NPTC for students receiving funded travel to Neath Campus.
We will continue to accept Gower College Swansea (Gorseinon Campus) passes on South Wales Transport local bus services for no additional charge.
